COVID-19 Update

Some Updates for You

Melbourne Metropolitan and Regional Victoria.

Most restrictions have been lifted across Victoria for Funeral Services.

Funerals (Indoor & Outdoor) :

Open to full capacity - a density quotient does not apply
  • There are no density limits or restrictions for the number of people who may attend a Funeral Service.
  • Vaccination Status is not required to be provided for attending a Funeral Service in a Church, Chapel, Funeral Home or other venue, with the exception of a Function Room or Hospitality Facility where proof of Vaccination Status is required to enter the venue.
  • Wakes or Refreshments following a Funeral Service – Catering and Hospitality venue regulations apply for entry including patron density limits.

  • Social distancing is still recommended when attending Funeral Services, along with wearing a properly fitted face mask, but is not manditory.

We do offer Live Streaming for those family and friends who may not be able to attend the Funeral Service in person.

  • You must carry a face mask with you when you leave home.
  • Face masks must be worn in the following settings, unless an exception applies:
  • on public transport, in commercial passenger vehicles such as taxis and ride share vehicles, and in tour vehicles
  • by visitors to a hospital or care facility (while indoors)
  • on flights to and from Victoria
  • indoors at airports
  • if you are diagnosed with COVID-19, or a close contact of someone diagnosed with COVID-19, when leaving your home or accommodation for a permitted reason, such as medical care or to get tested
  • while awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test when leaving your home or accommodation for a permitted reason, such as medical care (except as part of a surveillance or other asymptomatic testing program)
  • while experiencing any symptoms of COVID-19.
  • It is strongly recommended you wear a face mask when at a private gathering or when you cannot maintain 1.5 metres distance from other people.

Tribute Funeral Services is available to assist families following the death of a family member or friend, at this unprecedented time in Australia’s history.

Tribute Funeral Services is following the guidelines and directives of the Federal and Victorian State Government Health Authorities, while being aware of the emotional toll that organizing and coping with a Funeral Service at this time.

We trust that these measures will reduce the likelihood of spreading the COVID-19 virus, and still allow us to provide the best possible Service to our families that Tribute Funeral Services is renowned for within the Victorian Community and Funeral Industry, and the Independent Funeral Director of choice for Melbourne Families.

We have initiated the following processes to protect our families and friends, as well as our staff.

  • We are available to meet with family members to discuss and arrange Funeral Services, in our office, and request a limit of two (2) family members.
  • In line with Australian Government recommendations, we will endeavor to maintain the 1.5 meter social separation spacing during the meeting.
  •  We can arrange a home visit with family to complete the arrangements for a Funeral Service.
  • We have provided staff with the necessary hygiene equipment to ensure we are doing our best to safeguard against the rapid spread of COVID-19.
  • Our Chapel, Reception, Meeting rooms and associated amenities at Ravenhall (Deer Park/Caroline Springs area) will be cleaned between each service and meeting or other associated event.
  • Traditionally Funeral Services depending on the age of the person, saw between 30 and 70 Family and Friends attend to pay their respects and to say their goodbyes, however we have seen numbers reduce during the pandemic to between 20 and 50 mournes, with older members of the community prefering to remain in the relative safety of their home, and view the service via Live Streaming.
  • As the community learns to live with Covid-19 and restrictions are lifted, we are seeing a lifting attendance numbers for services, however only time will tell if they return to pre-covid attendance.
  • Tribute Funeral Services, has invested in Video Streaming Technology for those who cannot attend the service in person, due to the Social Spacing Laws, travel restrictions, or personal safety, and the service can be viewed on a PC, Tablet/iPad or Smartphone.
  • We are able to provide Live Streaming via our Media Partners – FuneralCast of a Funeral either in house or on location at a Church, Chapel or other venue anywhere across Melbourne or Regional Victoria.
  • To help slow the spread of coronavirus (COVID-19), stay safe by regularly washing your hands, keeping at least 1.5 metres from other people, and staying home if you feel unwell.
  • If you have any symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) get tested.
  • Cemetery Trust seating at the graveside will continue to NOT be supplied due the social distancing requirements and the type of adjoining seating usually provided.
